Responsibilities and Duties

The responsibilities and duties of a Designer include but are not limited to the following:

  • Produce GA’s (elevations/plans/sections) and detail interface drawings for client approval
  • From internal ‘handover’ meetings from commercial dept when order is secured, review our tender and the ‘processes’ involved before starting with drawing
  • Prepare fabrication drawings for curtain wall mullions, transom, pressure plate, face caps etc.
  • Producing calculations
  • Liaising with Façade Structural Engineers, when calculations are requested
  • Dealing with clients and confident in attending meetings
  • Witnessing façade performance testing on site or off site and testing authorities
  • Co-ordinating with Architect drawings, checking other subcontractor drawings
  • Pressed metal & bracket drawings
  • Glass size call offs
  • Fixings lists



The ideal candidate will have experience in the following:

  • Experience with drawing information for our fixers to understand and help installations
  • Knowledge of working to tender, the client and variations of change
  • Use Schucal software (produced by Schuco) and/or also LogiKal
  • Familiar with Schuco system
  • Ability to ask the correct questions when liaising with system suppliers
  • In-house system training preferable
  • Familiar with limitations of system design (maximum/minimum sizes for doors/windows, weight restrictions etc)
  • Familiarity with understanding of structural calculations i.e. Windload, system calculations etc
  • Understanding of curtain wall systems and how they are fixed back to structure (load/restraint fixings), building movements and the effects of live-load floor deflection
  • Understanding of Thermal and Acoustic issues
  • Understanding of glass, performance, coatings, acoustics etc
  • Interfaces, cold-bridge
  • Understanding of aluminium systems, drainage of systems, performance air/water etc
  • Experience in rainscreen cladding design desirable but not essential
  • Familiar with understanding NBS and/or Consultant façade specs
  • 3D modelling, use Revit or Inventor or Solid Works desirable but not essential
  • Experience in BIM desirable but not essential
  • Working to programme deadlines
  • Experience in on-site observing installation of facades (windows, doors, c/wall, rainscreen etc)
  • Experience in developing systems
  • Knowledge of CWCT, what they do and offer
  • Members of any organisations related to Facades



Project Manager

We are seeking a forward-thinking individual who can ‘think on their feet’ as well as multitask and prioritise their own workload. Responsibilities and Duties

The responsibilities and duties of a Project Manager include but are not limited to the following:

  • To assist in various tasks working alongside our Contract Manager / Directors
  • To prepare, agree and monitor all Method Statements, Risk Assessments and
    Programmes for Ridlands and our sub-contract operations
  • To monitor the supply of all materials and subcontracted operations for the project to
    ensure that the overall programme is maintained
  • To supervises and control of all on-site operations with additional on-site assistance
    if required
  • Assist with the monitoring, updates and reports on costs / budgets for all contract
    related purchases and expenditure including materials, plant, labour etc.
  • Assist estimators in preparing quotes and monitoring variations
  • Assist with the coordination and monitor the design and detailing process
  • Assist with the liaison and coordination of the company’s programme with the client
    and other work package contractors, to ensure the regular progress of the works
  • Assist in the preparation and maintain the companys’ job-specific quality plan
    ensuring that all records, inspections, testing and quality control procedures are
    carried out at all times
  • Prepare and maintain all short-term programmes and information required by the
    client to monitor and conform to the agreed contract programme
  • To provide a 2 week look ahead
  • To hold weekly tool box talks and maintain the records of attendance
  • To arrange a periodic stock take of materials on site
  • To ensure that site and equipment provided are safe at all times inc plant registers
  • To produce and maintain all site records including daily detailed site diary, labour
    allocations, weather conditions
  • To maintain an up to date drawing register and drawing file on site
  • Produce a detailed weekly progress report and issue externally and internally
  • To attend all site meetings as required
  • Ensure client satisfaction throughout all stages of the project
  • Ensuring that handover are completed in accordance with QA procedures
  • Obtain handover sign off from the main contractor
