Deck House

An extension to an existing larch clad house and addition of a new barn to provide further accommodation, Deck House sits in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the High Weald. Strict planning controls meant that the new barn needed to remain in keeping with the existing building, resulting in a simple and classic exterior, with the pitch and size of the gable exactly matching the house but set a storey higher.

Working closely with Theis & Khan to create the detailing of the doors and windows throughout, the brief was to create an appearance as simple and as sensitive to the context as possible using bespoke frameless glazing. The two gable windows are full height flush glazing with inset solid opening vents echoing barn loft doors.
